Provisions of bill on aquatic invasive species

Here are some provisions of HB 2157 sponsored by Rep. Nancy McLain, R-Bullhead City:
_ Allow the director of the Arizona Game and Fish Department to:
* establish checkpoints and inspections of watercraft and equipment to locate aquatic invasive species;
* order those found to have aquatic invasive species to decontaminate watercraft or equipment;
* require those who visit locations with aquatic invasive species to decontaminate watercraft and equipment before moving it.
_ Make it a Class 6 felony to knowingly sell, purchase or otherwise exchange an aquatic invasive species or to knowingly release such a species.
_ Establish a civil penalty up to $1,000 for violating the bill’s provisions.
_ Create an aquatic invasive species fund that includes money appropriated by the Legislature, money from civil penalties grants and gifts to be used for eradication, response to threats, management and education.
