CORRECTIONS/CLARIFICATIONS to July 6 story on Arizona dental board

EDS: Clients who used the Howard Center for Investigative Journalism story slugged BC-CNS-Dental Board that moved Thursday, July 6, under a PHOENIX dateline are asked to run the following corrections and clarifications. The errors occurred in the eighth and 71st grafs of the original. The clarifications, which occurred in the eighth and 65th grafs, make clear Edmonson believes the board has improved since he began his role, and he disputes the number of vacancies listed by the Governor’s Office. A corrected version of the story has been posted here.

PHOENIX – A July story about the Arizona State Board of Dental Examiners misspelled the last name of Ryan Edmonson, the board’s executive director. It also misstated the year Edmonson took his position. He started in 2019. The errors have been fixed. A paragraph quoting Edmonson has been clarified to say the dental examiner board was the worst-run he’d ever been a part of when he joined in 2019, but that it had made significant strides in performance since then. A paragraph about the number of vacancies on the board also has been clarified to say that although the Governor’s Office listed five vacancies, Edmonson said the board has no vacancies.
