–
THAT’S ALEJANDRA GOMEZ, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF LUCHA, AN ORGANIZATION THAT FOCUSES ON SOCIAL, RACIAL, AND ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION. GOMEZ BELIEVES THE OUTCOME OF THE ELECTION WILL HELP LEAD THE STATE IN A NEW DIRECTION.
ALEJANDRA GOMEZ, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF LUCHA
“WE DELIVERED THE MESSAGE. AND OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS ANSWERED THE CALL. THEY ARE READY FOR A NEW ARIZONA AND WHAT WE HAVE SEEN IS THE POLITIC OF DIVISION AND HATE AND XENOPHOBIA NO LONGER RANKED HERE.”
THIS ELECTION CYCLE PRORESSIVE ORGANIZATIONS LUCHA, ARIZONA WINS, AND THE ARIZONA EDUCATION ASSOCIATION PUT TOGETHER LOTS OF EFFORT TO MAKE SURE THE COMMUNITY VOTED. THIS PROVED VIABLE GOMEZ BELIEVES, AS DEMOCRATS PICKED UP WINS ACROSS THE STATE.
“THIS WAS OVER A DECADE IN THE MAKING OF YOUNG PEOPLE. OF SENORAS GOING OUT IN THE STREET AND REGISTERING PEOPLE TO VOTE IN A HUNDRED AND TEN DEGREE WEATHER. KNOCKING ON EVERY SINGLE DOOR, BUILDING A RELATIONSHIP WITH EACH VOTER WITH EACH COMMUNITY MEMBER TO ENSURE THEIR VOICE WAS HEARD AT THE POLLS.”
THOUGH THE PROGRESSIVE COMMUNITY CELEBRATED WINS ACROSS THE STATE, TWO HOUSE SEATS WERE LOST TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY BUT THEIR EFFORTS FOR CHANGE REMAIN THE SAME. CONOR MCGILL, CRONKITE NEWS.

ECONOMIC PANEL (REGINA/C&C)
Economy expert Dennis L. Hoffman delivered an outlook for the Arizona economy at the 59th annual Economic Forecast Luncheon yesterday.
Hoffman

Arizona recovered from the pandemic downturn before most states, Hoffman says.
Hoffman

>
Recent employment growth has been slower than the national average but the state will still add over one hundred thousand jobs in 2022 with eighty-six thousand being in the Phoenix metro area.
Hoffman
<>
Industries such as health care, manufacturing, transport and tech are remaining among the strongest.
There are some threats to the growth, Hoffman adds, such as declining housing affordability.
Hoffman
<>
He adds that decline in affordable housing is also due to a strong demand, inflation and rate hikes. But Phoenix metro has seen a greater net migration than any other metro area last year and population gains are expected to continue.
Another risk to the local economy is an aggressive fed policy which may trigger a national recession, reduced job growth and a slowdown in residential building.
But according to Hoffman, due to the strength of the Arizona and Phoenix economies, the effect should be milder compared with many other states.
