WASHINGTON – A March 13 Cronkite News story incorrectly characterized the 2020 Democratic presidential campaign of former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg. The first openly gay candidate to seek a major party’s presidential nomination was Republican hopeful Fred Krager in 2012.
