Here are some quick facts about SB 1167, which would create a registration fee for off-highway vehicles:

_ Main Sponsor: Rep. Jerry Weiers, R-Glendale._ The Fee: $20-25 for vehicles 1,800 pounds or less designed primarily for off-highway use; expected to raise between $4 million and $6 million annually.

_ Purpose: Maintain and build trails, restore damaged areas, educate riders and fund more law enforcement.

_ Other Provisions: Would make certain activities misdemeanors, including driving off paths in a manner that damages wildlife, property or natural resources.
