Here are results when the Social Research Laboratory at Northern Arizona University asked Arizonans if they could name the so-called “Five Cs” considered historical pillars of the state’s economy (copper, cotton, cattle, citrus and climate):
Could name all five: 3 percent.
Identified copper: 28 percent.
Identified cotton: 23 percent.
Identified cattle: 15 percent.
Identified citrus: 12 percent.
Identified climate: 10 percent.
