PHOENIX _ In a Feb. 25 story about a bill that would place controls on lobbyists’ gifts to state lawmakers, Cronkite News Service erroneously reported that Arizona law currently has no restrictions on such gifts. In fact, state law bans all gifts over $10 except food, travel and lodging, speaking engagements, flowers, consulting services, honorary items such as plaques, informational material and gifts given to all members of the Legislature. HB 2217, authored by Rep. Ed Ableser, D-Tempe, would ban gifts of meals worth more than $25 and trips lacking an educational purpose.
