Bills that Senate leaders say would increase transparency

Here are some bills Senate Republican leaders said would lead to greater openness in government. None of the bills has been heard while Senate leaders deal with the budget:
SB 1142
_ Author: Sen. Jonathan Paton, R-Tucson.
_ Provisions: Would require cities and towns to establish searchable online databases of all receipts and expenditures.
SB 1303
_ Author: Sen. Jay Tibshraeny, R-Chandler.
_ Provisions: Would require all public bodies to make notices of open meetings available on the Internet for a year.
SB 1378
_ Author: Sen. Chuck Gray, R-Mesa.
_ Provisions: Would require commissions on appellate and trial court appointments to provide real-time Web broadcasts of proceedings, along with archives of broadcasts.
SCR 1012
_ Author: Sen. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa.
_ Provisions: Calls for a statewide ballot measure to require the state treasurer and each county, city and town to establish searchable Web sites with all receipts and expenditures of state or local revenues.
