Facts about cuts in DES child care subsidies

Some facts about cuts the state Department of Economic Security is making in child care subsidies for low-income Arizonans:

_ DES plans as of March 1 to suspend subsidies to approximately 15,000 families earning between 110 and 165 percent of the federal poverty level.
_ An estimated 20,000 children are affected.
_ The cuts are expected to save $17.5 million for DES, which had nearly $103 million cut from its fiscal 2009 budget.
