Flu RSV – (Athena/reader)

CASES OF THE FLU AND RESPIRATORY SYNCYTIAL (sin-SISH-uhl) VIRUS (R-S-V) ARE ALREADY HIGHER THIS SEASON THAN IN THE PAST.

THE ARIZONA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES RELEASED DATA THAT SHOWS MORE THAN THREE HUNDRED PERCENT INCREASE IN FLU AND RSV CASES COMPARED TO A TYPICAL SEASON.

OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS, THERE HAS BEEN AN AVERAGE OF 131 CASES FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON. NEARLY SIX HUNDRED CASES HAVE ALREADY BEEN REPORTED SINCE THE SEASON STARTED IN EARLY OCTOBER. THE VAST MAJORITY OF RSV CASES AFFECT CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF FOUR. SYMPTOMS OF RSV ARE VERY SIMILAR TO THAT OF THE COMMON COLD. A-Z-D-H-S RECOMMENDS TAKING OVER-THE-COUNTER FEVER REDUCERS AND DRINKING PLENTY OF FLUIDS TO ALLEVIATE SYMPTOMS. MORE INFORMATION ABOUT RSV IS AVAILABLE AT C-D-C DOT GOV SLASH R-S-V.

IN OTHER HEALTH NEWS, OFFICIALS WITH THE NAVAJO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH REINSTATED A PUBLIC HEALTH ORDER THIS WEEK THAT REQUIRES MASKS INDOORS TO STOP THE SPREAD OF COVID-19. Host Intro:

LAST YEAR JAYDEN DE LAURA (LAH-RAH) WAS PLAYING IN CRIMSON AND GRAY. NOW LEADING THE WILDCATS, HE FACES OFF AGAINST HIS FORMER TEAM. CRONKITE REPORTER DAMON FAIRALL HAS MORE.

Damon:
THE ARIZONA FOOTBALL TEAM UPSET TWELFTH RANKED U-C-L-A ON SATURDAY 34 TO 28 TO PICK UP THEIR BIGGEST WIN OF THE SEASON TO DATE.

THE WIN KEEPS THE WILDCATS IN PLAY TO MAKE A POSTSEASON BOWL GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2017. ARIZONA STILL NEEDS TO WIN THEIR FINAL TWO GAMES FOR THIS TO BE A REALITY…AND THEY’LL BEGIN WITH WASHINGTON STATE ON SATURDAY.

FOR ONE ARIZONA PLAYER THE UPCOMING GAME MEANS EVEN MORE THAN JUST BOWL CONTENTION. QUARTERBACK JAYDEN DE LAURA TRANSFERRED TO THE WILDCATS FROM WASHINGTON STATE THIS YEAR.

HE WENT SIX AND SIX AS THE COUGARS STARTER LAST YEAR, BEFORE THE WASHINGTON STATE COACHING STAFF DECIDED TO GO IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION.

Jayden de Laura/Arizona Quarterback
“This game is… it’s personal. It’s personal.”

DE LAURA WILL LOOK TO COMPOUND ON LAST WEEK’S STELLAR 315 YARD AND TWO TOUCHDOWN PERFORMANCE AGAINST HIS FORMER TEAM ON SATURDAY.

WE HAD HELP TODAY FROM CAROLEINA HASSET. AND A SPECIAL THANKS TO DAMON FAIRALL WHO PRODUCED OUR SHOW.
