Some facts about Crown King:

_ Located at 6,000 feet in the Bradshaw Mountains, in Yavapai County north of Phoenix.

_ The first gold mine was claimed on July 1, 1875. It closed in the 1950s.

_ A living ghost town with 130 residents, it is accessible from Interstate 17 at exit 248, south of Cordes Junction, via a well-graded dirt road that travels 28 miles up the mountain.

_ A popular weekend getaway for people who own or rent cabins in the area.
