Collaborations between Native American groups and U.S. Census Bureau
With BC-CNS-Census-Native Groups
By Cronkite News Service
Here are collaborations between Native American groups and the U.S. Census Bureau intended to boost participation in the 2010 census:
Tribal Government Liaison Program: Tribal members distribute census information at tribal events, help census staff understand tribal culture and encourage tribal members to apply for census jobs.
Partnership Programs: The Census Bureau employs tribal members in regional census offices to distribute information and answer questions.
Tribal Complete Count Committees: Approved by tribal governments, these groups promote the fact the census is important and confidential.
