Here are bills endorsed by The Humane Society of the United States, which organized Humane Lobby Day on Thursday at the State Capitol:
HB 2517:
_ Provisions: Make licensed kennels subject to inspections by county enforcement agents at any time during regular business hours and require agents to investigate after receiving a written complaint about a kennel.
_ Sponsor: Rep. Nancy Young Wright, D-Tucson.
_ Status: Awaiting hearing in House Government Committee.
HB 2458:
_ Provisions: Require owners of unlicensed cats and dogs that have bitten a person or are found wandering the streets to pay for the animals to be sterilized and microchipped.
_ Sponsor: Rep. Steve Court, R-Mesa.
_ Status: Passed House Government Committee; awaiting hearing in Natural Resources and Rural Affairs Committee.
HB 2150:
_ Provisions: Expand current laws prohibiting dogfighting and cockfighting to include any staged animal fight.
_ Sponsor: Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Phoenix.
_ Status: Passed House Judiciary Committee unanimously and headed to full House.
